Book Publishing Q&A
Please reach out at liz@elizabethkingdesigns.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
How Do I Get Started?
We start the process with an in-person meeting or via zoom. We take you through defining your story and vision for your book.

What If I Only Need A Book Cover Design?
Yes, we will happily work with you on a cover design. We will meet to discuss your vision and share creative ideas for your book to stand out and grab people's attention. Our book cover service provides a custom cover design, spine, and back cover packaged and ready for print.

What if I Already Have a Cover Design and Only Need a Book Layout?
Whether you desire a simple text-driven book or have many photos and images, your layout will reflect your vision. Details and consistency are vitally important as a designer and to the reader; therefore, we'll ensure your book layout is consistent and focused on being typographically attractive, readable, and engaging.

Do You Offer Editorial Services?
We do not provide proofreading and editing services but collaborate with editors available to work with you.

Do You Print Books?
Yes. Throughout designing your book, we’ll take great care to ensure it is prepared for printing. We work directly with a printer and oversee the printing of each book to provide the highest-quality finish produce.

Do You Offer Social Media Content?
Yes. We offer creative ways to promote your book through social media outlets.

Can You Help Me With My Branding?
Yes. With decades of branding and marketing experience, we can create a sophisticated logo or refresh your current one and create essential marketing materials in the form of business cards, brochures, displays, and more.

Do I need to provide a copyright page?
We can set it up for you; you will provide the ISBN # and Library of Congress control number. There are also many samples online of various styles for copyright pages.

What is an ISBN# and how do I get one? Do I need a barcode?
ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number and is a 13-digit number used to identify each published book as unique. Most bookstores will not feature or sell any book that is not first listed within their warehouse database. Therefore, to sell your book, you must have a unique ISBN. You can apply for an ISBN at myidentifiers.com or go to bowker.com to buy as many as you need. In addition, you will need to have a barcode if you wish to sell your book online or have it distributed in any way in stores and so forth.

How do I register with the Library of Congress?
Once you have your ISBN #, you can register with the Library of Congress by visiting www.loc.gov/publish/pcn/. We recommend Bowker.com which offers ISBN services.
